CHOCOLATE-VANILLA MARBLED BREAD

YIELD: Makes one loaf

INGREDIENTS:

4 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped

1/2 cup milk, divided

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated white sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F and place rack in the center of the oven. Butter and lightly flour a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Line the bottom of the pan with a strip of parchment paper.

Melt the chocolate with 1/4 cup of the milk in the microwave, on high, stirring every 15 seconds until smooth. Set aside.
